  • Vegan Pane di Pasqua - Easter Bread Recipe

My family’s traditional pane di Pasqua, Pinca or Easter bread, made entirely vegan, eggless, and dairy free! Topped with a sugar glaze, roasted almonds, caramel sugar, coconut flakes and dried raspberries, this Easter bread is full of lemon and orange zest and rum soaked raisins with a sweet pillowy soft bread . The perfect bread centerpiece for your plant based Easter celebration! Seeing as I follow a plant-based diet, I wanted to make my own version of the bread that I love so much. Instead of using yolks, we’re using vegan butter and turmeric for the colour. Ingredients for the dough: 400 g regular white flour 100 g spelt flour (or you can use regular instead) 1 sachet of dry yeast 1/2 tsp turmeric (for colour) 1 pinch of salt 100 vegan butter zest of 1 lemon zest of 1 orange 1 dl rum 6 tbsp sugar (I mixed 3 bourbon vanilla sugar sachets + 3 tbsp brown cane sugar) 2 dl roasted almond milk (soy or oat milk can also be used) 2-3 handfuls of raisins Ingredients for the shiny coating: 1 tbsp sugar approximately 0,2 dl vegan milk Ingredients for the glaze: 250 g powdered sugar approximately 0,3 dl vegan milk (add bit by bit to the sugar until you get the right consistency) Toppings: dried coconut flakes dried raspberries roasted almond leaves granulated sugar in caramel - vanilla flavour Preparation Soak the raisins in rum, they need to be covered, you can add a bit of water if you don't want a lot of rum flavour). Leave it for 2-3 hours. Melt the vegan butter (on low heat, needs to be lukewarm, not hot). In another bowl, dissolve the sugar in the lukewarm milk. Add the lemon and orange zest. In the third bowl add the dried yeast, salt and turmeric to the flour. Stir a little to distribute the yeast evenly throughout the flour. Add the milk to the flour and knead briefly. Add the melted vegan butter and continue kneading. The dough should not stick to the bowl, if it does stick to the bowl and your fingers, add a bit of flour. Cover the dough with a cloth and place it in a warm place for 1 hour to rise. Divide the dough into two parts. Drain the raisins and add equally to each dough. Knead the dough until the raisins are evenly distributed throughout the dough. The dough should not stick to the bowl, if it does stick to the bowl and your fingers, add a bit of flour. Shape into two balls, place it on a, baking paper covered, oven tray, cover with a cloth and leave the dough to rise for another 30 minutes in a warm place. Cut the dough with a knife or scissors, into three or four cuts. Brush the dough with plant-based milk (soy, oat or almond) in which we have dissolved a tablespoon of sugar. Bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes. (You can check by inserting a toothpick into the center of the dough. If the toothpick comes out clean, your dough is likely fully baked. ) When we take the Easter breads out of the oven, while they are still hot, we coat them once again with a combination of milk and sugar for shine. Let it cool down while you cover it with the cloth to retain moisture. Mix powdered sugar with a bit of milk until you get pourable consistency that smoothly coats the Easter bread without excessive dripping. Top it with dried coconut flakes, dried raspberries, roasted almond leaves, caramel - vanilla granulated sugar or other toppings. That's it! Enjoy your delicious vegan Easter Bread and Happy Easter! Kisses! PetraG

  • Hollywood Smile: My Veneers Process Explained

Why should you get Ceramic Veneers? Ceramic veneers are designed to be more custom-fit for your specific needs. They require minimal teeth preparation . They can reinforce the structural integrity of a broken or weakened tooth and there are more colours to choose from. I, for example, let my dentist choose the colour for me. How long does the process last? This can vary and it is truly individual . The process of getting my Hollywood smile lasted for about 6 months . However, I also had a surgery to remove my gummy smile . The recovery took a bit more time for me before the dentist put my ceramic veneers. In total, I had 7 appointments. My 7 appointments explained: 1. Examination and Consultation Alongside the clinical examination, 2D and 3D XRay examination, the dentist took a lot of time to hear my wishes and expectations. He took all I desired into consideration in order to make a personalised therapy for me. Everything is individual and personal which I really loved and which made me feel secure in my choice of the dentist. 2. Aesthetic Mock-Up - Preparation This comes at an additional cost and you can actually skip this process , but since ceramic veneers are something I will have permanently on my face I wanted to see how it might look like before the real proceedure. It is done in 2D - virtually, so you can see it on pictures. And afterwards, it is done in 3D as well, where they attach dental composites on your own teeth. It is made out of material that mimics the colour and shape of your future teeth so you can better visualise how your veneers might look like. For this procedure the dentist will take some photos of you, a video and he will also take a 3D scan of your oral cavity . They are doing it with a specialised software and a 3D printer. Everything is done in between 3-5 days approximately . 3. Aesthetic Mock-Up in 2D and 3D I received pictures and virtual mock-up on my email, and it looked like this: At my 3rd appointment the dentist was putting a 3D printed model of dental composites on my natural teet. There was no preparation needed and my teeth were intact . The whole process of trying these mock-up teeth was about 1h long . It is painless and I could take pictures and videos so I can visualise better how they might look like. A note: This is just a mock up, not a real thing!!! It might feel a bit chunky in your mouth and you might not be fully satisfied with the shape, but that is the point - to visualise and see what you like and don't like. My dentist took all my desires and concernes into account and reassured me about my choices. He was a real champ because I'm usually sceptical and I have lots of questions. 4. Dental Cleaning With this procedure the dentist was removing the plaque and tartar from the teeth in order to clean them properly and prepare them for the upcoming proceedures. The process was about 45 min long. 5. Laser Gum Surgery I was unhappy with the size and proportion of my gums. Therefore, the purpose of this surgery was to get rid of my gummy smile , so my smile looks aesthetically even and in harmony. Crown lenghtening or Gum Lift is a proceedure where my dentist used a personalised cut-out template, ultrasound machines and a laser to cut out some part of my gums and to thin out a part of my dental bone. Of course, you are having the anaesthesia here. Depending on how many teeth this is performed, this procedure can last in between 45 min up to an 1h and 30 min. I had surgery on my front 8 teeth . The recovery lasts for about 3-5 days . The stitches are removed after 2 weeks . The complete recovery of your gums lasts about 6-8 weeks . Everything depends on the individual. Laser Gum Surgery, before and after pictures: 6. Temporary Veneers Temporary veneers are made from the same material like the previously explained Mock-Up. The process lasts for about 45 min to 1h . The purpose of it was for me to live with them for a couple of weeks so I could eat, talk, smile and get used to my new smile . In this period I could also see if I want some changes made before putting the real ceramic veneers. The only change I wanted to make here was to shorten my two front teeth for about 1mm . 7. Putting on Veneers Usually it takes about 10-14 days to have your custom ceramic veneers made. My veneers are fully ceramic and the colour matches the whites of my eyes . The whole process can take between 30 min to 5h , depending on how many teeth the veneers are being put. My process was about 2h long. At this stage the veneers are being 'cemented' on your previously prepared teeth (they remove a bit of your tooth enamel). Usually you don't need anaesthesia for this procedure but since my natural teeth are so sensitive I requested it. They can last for 10 years or even longer with optimal care! But the most important thing is to choose your dentist carefully. Choose a professional who has been doing it for a long time. I am beyond happy with mine! My dentist is: Dr. Ivan Ćatović https://drzlatko.com Instagram Kisses! PetraG

  • Creating an Intimate Marriage Proposal: A Guide to Making it Special and Romantic

If you are one of those couples that feel uncomfortable with public display of emotions and/or affection , then you came to the right place. In a world that's often abuzz with grand gestures and extravagant settings , intimacy can get lost. I am a big believer that you can have both . It just has to be done the right way! An intimate marriage proposal can be one of the most memorable experiences for both partners, as it allows for a deep connection and personal touch that often gets lost amid the noise of over-the-top displays. If you’re contemplating a proposal that speaks to both of your hearts, here’s how to create a moment that is genuine, heartfelt, and perfectly you.  1. Understanding Intimacy in Marriage Proposals  Intimacy in a marriage proposal doesn’t solely refer to a quiet environment. It also encompasses emotional connection, vulnerability, and authenticity . An intimate proposal should be tailored to your's and partner’s personality and preferences. So when my brother came to me with two completely contrasting wishes, I was set on a mission to incorporate both. His wish was to have an intimate proposal next to the sea, but with whole family around to celebrate . 2. Choose the Right Setting for an Intimate Marriage Proposal The setting of your proposal plays a crucial role in establishing an intimate atmosphere. Consider locations that hold special meaning for both of you, or the loctions you know you both would enjoy. For example: my brother loves nature and walking on the beach during sunset and my brother's fiancé loves staying at hotels and relaxing at the spa area. Therefore, I chose to book a room with a sunset sea-view in a five star hotel. In that way he has all of the elements he wants: sea view, sunset, intimacy and the possibility of his family being there . With that being said, his fiancé doesn't have to worry about anything, she can just relax and enjoy the benefits of staying at a five star hotel . An important thing to remember for you both is that you should eat before the proposal happens! So I booked for them an early dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The booking was at 18:30, so they had time until the sun sets at 20:00. 3. Personalize the Moment  Make the proposal uniquely yours by incorporating personal elements that reflect you as a couple: Incorporate Memories: While making the hotel room ready, the champagne I chose for them was their signature drink. That specific drink brought so many memories and made the room feel more personalised. Use Symbols: On the bed, there was a white sleeping mask on which it said 'Wake me up on my Wedding Day' and a white robe with white slippers on which it said 'Bride'. It made the room feel more 'homey' and special. 4. Keep it Simple  Simplicity often speaks volumes. Focus on the emotions and connection rather than elaborate orchestrations:  Avoid Distractions: Limit the number of people involved in the moment. If you both cherish privacy, keep it just between the two of you. That's why the hotel room was a perfect setting. Have the whole family: At the hotel, I booked a table for the whole family at the lounge bar area so that, after they had their private moment in the room, they could join us and celebrate. Decoration: Keep it classy by not having all the items you see on Pinterest in the room. For example, on one picture I saw: candles, baloons, champagne, 'marry me' sign, a bouquet of flowers, flower petals, teddy bears... It can get too tacky too soon. If you're not sure, follow the rule of three . Therefore, I chose red baloons, champagne and the 'Bride' outfit (a sleeping mask, a robe, slippers) carefully positioned in the hotel room. 5. Capture the Moment (If Desired)  While an intimate proposal often focuses on personal space and privacy, you might want to capture the moment. Consider:  Having a photographer: The perfect situation would be to document the event and ensuring that your moment is preserved without interrupting the privacy. So, afterthe proposal, when they joined us for drinks, I suggested that in awhile, when they calm down, we go again to the room and take some pictures and videos. In this way, my brother's fiancé could retouch her make up after her happy tears and have memorable photos without ruining their intimate moment. Self-Capture: If you don't have your family around, use a camera on a tripod or your phone set on a stable surface to capture the moment as it happens.  6. Follow Up with Celebration  After the proposal, take a moment to relish your new engagement before celebrating. Whether you want to keep the moment private or share it with family and friends later on, find ways to honour the occasion:  Toast Just the Two of You: They could have had a celebratory drink together inside the room to mark the milestone. Instead, they chose to keep the bottle of champagne, so they joined their family downstairs. Plan an Engagement Celebration: We had a small gathering with loved ones at the lounge bar area of the hotel to celebrate the happy news.  In the end...  A marriage proposal is a significant step in any relationship, something you will always remember and tell to your friends and/or future children. By focusing on your love, creating a personalized moment, and keeping it simple, you can have a proposal that speaks to both your hearts. At the end of the day, it’s not just about the act of proposing but about the love and commitment that you both are ready to embrace as partners in life. Whatever path you choose, ensure it feels right for both of you, creating a cherished memory that you will look back on fondly for years to come.  Kisses! PetraG

  • How to Propose at Your Favourite Hotel

Proposing to the love of your life is one of the most significant and memorable moments you’ll ever experience. Hotels often offer a blend of luxury, intimacy, and stunning views, making them perfect backdrops for a proposal. Whether it’s a cozy boutique hotel or a grand five-star resort, here's how I created one in hopes to give you an idea so you can also create an unforgettable proposal at your favourite hotel. 1. Choose a Proposal Date at Your Favourite Hotel Considering C&L have birthdays around the same time, it was a perfect setting for a surprise. The initial idea was to mask the stay at the hotel as a birthday present from him to her, so both could enjoy and celebrate their birthdays together. I created an itinerary they could follow so they don't have to think about anything. Since it was happening during the peak season, I made sure the hotel was booked at least two months ahead. The hotel of choice was: Grand Hotel Brioni in Pula, Croatia. In 2023 the hotel won an award for the best hotel in Croatia . 2. Choose the Perfect Spot Within the Hotel The beauty of proposing at a hotel is the variety of options you have for creating the perfect moment. Here are some ideas: A Rooftop or Balcony: A proposal with a view is always a winner. Rooftops offer breathtaking skyline views, sunset backdrops, or even twinkling city lights in the evening. If the hotel has a balcony suite, you can propose in private while overlooking a scenic vista. The Hotel Garden or Courtyard: Many hotels have beautifully landscaped gardens, courtyards, or fountains that provide an intimate and peaceful setting. By the Pool or Beach (if it’s a Resort): If your hotel is by the beach or has a beautiful pool, consider a sunset proposal by the water. It’s romantic, relaxed, and offers a serene atmosphere. In a Luxurious Suite: If you want privacy and personal touches, consider proposing in your hotel room. A suite with a grand view, fireplace, or Jacuzzi can create a magical, intimate moment. Since I was worried about the weather and I definitely wanted everything to go as smooth as possible, I decided that the best way to go would be in a luxurious suite. In that way, there would be no disturbance from other guests and the weather can't spoil it. 3. Incorporate Hotel Staff to Help with the Surprise Hotels often have concierge teams that specialize in crafting personalized experiences for their guests. Here's how they assisted me: Choosing the Room: When I came to the hotel to book the room, the concierge made sure to show me some rooms she thought would have the best views and so after we visited about 4 rooms, I got to pick one that had the best sunset sea-view. Booking a Dinner at the Restaurant Sophia :  The manager of the Restaurant Sophia made sure to reserve two tables for me, one on the balcony outside and one inside. In that way I was sure that no matter the weather they will have the best option. On the day the weather was a bit cloudy so they went for the indoor table. Room Decor:  When C&L went to dinner, it was time for us to clean the room and prepare it with the heart shaped baloons. The hotel staff made sure all the details were in place and was of big help considering we had limited time at our disposal. Champagne: While we were busy preparing the room we asked the staff to bring champagne in the room and they served it so nicely. Making sure the champagne bottle was under the light in order to get the beautiful romantic ambiance. 4. Timing is Everything Make sure the timing of your proposal is just right. Think about when you both will be the most relaxed and in good spirits. Some great times to propose might include: Sunset or Sunrise:  For beautiful natural lighting and a serene atmosphere. Before or After a Special Activity:  If you have a fun activity planned, like a spa day or a scenic tour, consider proposing before or after when you're both feeling at your best. During a Special Event:  If the hotel is hosting a live music event, beach bonfire, or fireworks display, you can incorporate the proposal into that moment for an extra touch of excitement. I made sure their dinner was booked at 18:30 so they had time to go upstairs to their room for the sunset at 20:00, which gave them the most romantic scenery ever. While they were at the dinner, I made sure to text L where the ring was and to tell him to let her go first in the room, so while she's looking at the decorations, he can smoothly take the ring and propose. 5. Capture the Moment You’ll want to cherish the memory of your proposal for a lifetime. Candid Photos: Some people love the idea of a surprise proposal with the photographer hiding nearby to capture the raw emotions. A Romantic Photo Session Afterward: If you prefer privacy during the proposal, like C&L, a family member can take some photos and videos afterwards. 6. Celebrate with a Post-Proposal Experience After your partner says yes, you'll want to celebrate! Since you’re already at your favorite hotel, take advantage of their amenities to create a celebratory experience: A Romantic Dinner: Reserve a table at the hotel’s fine dining restaurant or arrange for a private dining experience on a balcony, rooftop, or beach. Spa Treatment for Two: Unwind and relax together with a couple’s massage or a spa day. It’s the perfect way to bask in the post-proposal glow. Book a Special Suite for the Night: If you haven’t already, upgrade to a luxury suite for the night to make the occasion feel even more special. Many hotels offer honeymoon or proposal packages with complimentary perks like champagne, chocolates, or breakfast in bed. Celebrate with Your Family:  We were all having a drink at the hotel's lounge bar area while waiting for C&L to join us and celebrate their happy news. 7. Relax and Enjoy the Moment Most importantly, remember to be present and enjoy the moment. Planning a proposal can feel overwhelming, but once the big day arrives, trust that your preparation will pay off. Whether things go perfectly as planned or there’s an unexpected twist, your partner will appreciate the thought and love you’ve put into creating such a beautiful moment. In the End... Proposing at your favorite hotel is a fantastic way to blend luxury, sentimentality, and romance into one unforgettable experience. By choosing a location that holds personal meaning, personalizing the proposal, and enlisting the help of hotel staff, you can create a magical moment that you and your partner will remember for a lifetime. From the setting to the surprise elements, every detail will come together to form a story you’ll love telling for years to come. Kisses! PetraG
